Cannabis Concentrates
Cannabis concentrates have become very popular over the past years and they are here to stay, but exactly are they?
Well, concentrates are extracts of the cannabis plant, that contain the highest concentrations of cannabinoids like THC and CBD.
There are many different types of cannabis concentrate, here are the most common currently available:
- Budder, Badder, Batter
- Crumble
- Hash
- Live Resin & Rosin
- Rick Simpson Oil
- Shatter
- Tinctures

Budder, Badder, and Batter
Budder, badder, and batter are all basically the same type of cannabis concentrate, but there can be small differences between them. Budder has a smooth, whipped consistency, a little like butter. Batter and badder are not as smooth, but are a little looser in consistency and may have a more bumpy appearance.
Crumble
Crumble is the driest form of cannabis concentrate you can find, it is made in a similar way as shatter. Its appearance resembles clumps of sugar granules. Crumble can also be vaporized on in a dab rig.
Hash
Hash is created by separating and processing the sticky trichomes of the plant. The trichomes are then pressed together to form the required product, sometimes heat is applied. There are many different ways to create the hash. Hash is normally consumed in a joint or a bong.
Live Resin and Live Rosin
Live Resin and Live Rosin are both very similar, Live Resin is normally made by freezing the buds and using alcohol to extract the goodness, Live Rosin is normally made using a heated press and squeezing out the goodness under high pressure.
Both Live Resin and Live Rosin can be consumed via a dab pen or dab rig.
Rick Simpson Oil (RSO)
Rick Simpson Oil is a full cannabis plant extract, it contains all the plant’s cannabinoids. It was named after Rick Simpson who famously produced the oil to help treat cancer patients for free.
It has a thick, almost grease-like appearance and is normally a very dark golden colour and extremely potent.
Shatter
Shatter is a concentrate that is made from butane hash oil (BHO). It is hard in its consistency with an amber colour and will shatter when broken, hence the name. It looks a lot like glass. It can be used in a dab rig or with a dab pen.
Tinctures
Tinctures are concentrated cannabis extracts mixed with a carrier solution, like olive oil or hemp seeds oil, They are normally ingested or used externally to treat areas of the body. The most common form of tinctures is CBD Oil.
