What are Feminized cannabis seeds?

Feminized cannabis seeds are seeds that produce female plants ninety-nine percent of the time.

For a long time “regular seeds” were the only type of cannabis seed available.
Regular cannabis seeds are a mixture of female and male seeds, This was the only option for growing cannabis before feminized seeds.

It is impossible to distinguish the difference between the two seeds despite the claims of many theories.

Only when the seed has been germinated and the plant has started to mature, is it possible is to tell the difference.

Rodelization

In the 1990’s Dutch cannabis breeder Henk van Dalen discovered a way of producing only feminized seeds from a plant. This technique is known today as Rodelization.

Henk noticed that female cannabis plants produced small amounts of male pollen sacks when the plant was left to flower longer than normal. This is nature’s way of making sure the plant can reproduce. The pollen from these male sacks was collected and used to pollinate flowering females.

The females Hank pollinated with the pollen he had collected produced seeds that turned out to be only female.

Colloidal silver method

Colloidal silver is a liquid made up of tiny particles of silver suspended in water. The liquid is sprayed onto the branches of the plant every 3 days prior to the plant being switched to a 12 / 12 light cycle (used for flowering).

This method forces the plant to produce the male pollen sacks (slimily to the Rodelization Method). The pollen can then be collected and used to pollinate other female plants. This method is commonly used today as it produces large yields of pollen.

Gibberellic acid method

This method is basically the same as the Colloidal silver method, except the solution is sprayed onto plants that are already starting to flower. The flowering plants then produce the male pollen sacks, again the pollen is collected and to pollinate flowering females.
